Half Peak

Half Peak is one of the San Juans’ most remote and unique 13ers, near Lake City, CO. I started at the Cataract Gulch Trailhead and made the long approach to Cataract Lake, then followed the Colorado Trail before climbing toward the saddle and the hourglass ridge (imagine an hourglass tipped on its side). This section stays at class 2, and from there the route finishes on the broad summit block with views that stretch for miles.
